Election day for the county general and state primaries in East Tennessee is on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here’s what to know.
The August election will serve as the primary for Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Tennessee Senate, Tennessee House, and Republican and Democratic State Executive Committees. Voters will decide who goes on to the general midterm election. Nearly every county mayor’s and sheriff’s seat is up for election this year, along with county commission and school board seats. There are also several county officers, like the county trustee and county clerk, on the ballot.
