Civic Values

Civil Discourse and Cooperation in Politics

Politics has become far too polarized in this country, preventing good work from being accomplished. Better decisions for our state will be made through bipartisan solutions. I believe in the rule of law and balance of power, which require input and participation from multiple viewpoints.

Lead with Empathy, Strive to Understand

I am always proud to see the neighbors in my rural community helping each other. I want to encourage our great community to come together to try to listen and understand each other so that we can best accomplish goals that we all have. I will strive to hear the needs of the residents of District 19 and promise to do my best to understand and communicate those priorities in the state legislature. Our state should develop bipartisan, humane immigration policy that respects the constitutional rights of all residents.

Common Sense Leadership

Our residents are understandably against an increase in taxes; their share of taxes is already large enough. Large corporations and the ultra wealthy should shoulder a larger tax burden. I will oppose needless legislation that will increase the bureaucratic burden of government and small businesses, making government work better for everyday people.
